John Carl Wharton

Hey everyone! My name is John-Carl Wharton, and I am from Wilmington, NC. I chose industrial and systems engineering because I love the many opportunities available in the Industrial Engineering
Program. I enjoy the data analytics, forecasting, and simulation aspects of Industrial Engineering. I find it fascinating how complex problems such as forecasting demand, the best route to take, or the optimal placement of health care facilities can be solved using mathematical models learned through the ISE program.

This summer, I had the opportunity to receive an internship through the Rural Works Program and have previously worked for Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) here at NC State. If you have any questions regarding either, please let me know. As an ISE ambassador, I am excited to share what industrial and systems engineering is, so if you are new to ISE or are interested in learning more about it, please feel free to reach out. Outside of Fitts-Woolard, you can find me playing intramural frisbee, at Carmichael’s rock-climbing wall, or riding my bike around campus.
