Christal Walker

ISE Ambassador

Hello! My name is Christal Walker and I am a junior from Concord, NC majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a minor in Business Entrepreneurship. When deciding on a major, I wanted three main things: a major to challenge me, a major to enhance my strengths and a major to prepare me to be an entrepreneur. ISE perfectly combines aspects of engineering and business initiatives which set a perfect foundation for me to understand how to effectively and efficiently manage certain components of a business. ISE provides the perfect challenge for me, while also enhancing my ability to facilitate difficult conversations within groups and organize chaotic processes into a more structured order.

On campus, I am involved with the Goodnight Scholars Program, National Society of Black Engineers and Women and Minority Engineering program. When I am not studying, I’m actively involved as a member of the Fusion Dance Team on campus participating in competitions, events and showcases. Additionally, I work on campus as an IT help desk consultant and am pursuing a co-op with Lockheed Martin for the fall 2020 semester.

I became an ambassador because, without sparking a conversation with an ISE Ambassador my freshman year, I’m not sure what major I may have chosen. I could not imagine feeling any other happiness and security with my major now! Being an ambassador allows me to connect directly with students who are in the same place I was my freshman year. I am very open to meeting and talking to those interested in ISE. If you have any questions or want to talk please reach out to me!
