Ipsen Named 2017 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) released its 2017 All-ACC Academic Swimming & Diving Team and ISE junior Anton Ipsen not only made the list – the third time in three years – but also received ACC Men’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards began in 2007 to recognize the top junior or senior student-athletes in their respective sports.

In the pool, Ipsen received All-ACC honors for his first and second place finishes in the 500m and 1,650m freestyle at the ACC Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Ipsen’s two top-eight finishes in those same events earned him All-America status and qualified him for the 2017 World Championships in Budapest.

In the classroom, Ipsen has piled up the awards as well. Along with the three All-ACC Academic honors, he earned Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) twice. Ipsen has accomplished all this while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Congratulations Anton!
