Advisory Board Chair Notes | May 2016

It is phenomenal to see the robust energy in the ISE department following this past academic year. From national awards to national media coverage, students, faculty, and alumni should be proud of how each has made this department so successful.

The Connect NC Bond successfully passed in March, helping the Engineering Oval Building move toward becoming the department’s new home. As always, it is rewarding to see the department’s collaborations with companies in the Triangle and beyond, working to help improve society through optimized processes and systems.

A partnership between the department and Dr. Atala’s team from WFIRM are working together to scale up regenerative medicine technologies. Read an in-depth interview on page six. Spring semester senior design projects assisted major companies including IBM, Lenovo, EMC and Century.

We are thrilled the department maintains a job placement percentage rate in the high 90’s. Such an accomplishment is only possible with the support of our alumni who recognize the unique skills and talents of current graduates. It is a priority for us to engage with alumni and offer a variety of opportunities to interact with the department. We look forward to connecting with you at the upcoming 2016 Homecoming festivities that kick-off on Friday, October 28th.
