Russell King is a professor of Industrial Engineering and Director of the Furniture Manufacturing and Management Center at North Carolina State University. He joined the faculty in 1985. He is also an associate faculty member of the Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering Institute, the Operations Research Program, and the Textiles and Apparel Management Department. He has industrial experience with Dynamac Corporation, the Jacksonville Naval Aviation Depot (US Navy), and Computer Science Corporation. He has been awarded the C. A. Anderson Outstanding Faculty Award (on four occasions), the NCSU Alcoa Foundation Engineering Achievement Award, the Institute of Industrial Engineers Technical Innovation Award, the Institute of Industrial Engineers Albert G. Holtzman Distinguished Educator Award, the NCSU George H. Blessis Outstanding Undergraduate Advisor Award and is an NCSU Alumni Distinguished Graduate Faculty Professor.
Dr. King is the Academic Advisor to our student chapter of IIE and is the Undergraduate Scholarship Coordinator. He is a Felow of IIE, and is a member of INFORMS, Tau Beta Pi, Alpha Pi Mu, and Omega Rho.
Areas of Interest
Logistics engineering, production scheduling and inventory control for manufacturing/remanufacturing systems under risk, design and control of manufacturing systems, and modeling and evaluation of quick response sourcing, manufacturing and retail systems.
