Alumna Constance Lightner Awarded for Teaching Excellence
Dr. Constance Lightner, a 2000 alumna of the Operations Research Program at NC State, was recently selected to receive the prestigious UNC Board of Governors Award for Teaching Excellence. She was supervised by Dr. Shu-Cherng Fang, Walter Clark Walter Clark Chair and University Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Dr. Lightner is currently an associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Management at Fayetteville State University. A member of the FSU faculty since 2000, Dr. Lightner teaches mathematics-based courses to business majors. She has created supplemental teaching manuals and chapter tutorials that have made quantitative topics interesting and relevant to her students. Dr. Lightner is also the School of Business' liaison to community colleges and has served the community as a consultant for United Way of Cumberland County.
Dr. Lightner will be receiving her award during a luncheon held in conjunction with the UNC Board of Governors meeting on May 9.
